Congratulations!!

Firstly thought I'd stop by and share a couple of cards with you. I made them for my son Jonathan and his girlfriend Elizabeth who both celebrated their birthday on Thursday (24th February).
Jonathan loves his i phone so I thought I'd use that as the theme for his card.

They spent the week in Prague and Jonathan made sure the trip was extra special by proposing. I was so thrilled when they popped  round this morning to share their fantastic news.  They really make a lovely couple and I'm sure they'll have a wonderful life together.

Well better go and get the engagement card sorted.
Enjoy your weekend.

Alter a shoe box!

This week for the Try it on Tuesday Challenge we've chosen the theme of altering a shoe box. The challenge this week is sponsored by the Craft Barn so well worth entering I think you'll agree.

I decided to try out a technique we did at Sheena Douglass's workshop back in November. It's creating a crackle aged effect using PVA glue and emulsion paint.

I diluted the PVA glue, 3 parts glue to 1 part water (roughly!) and painted it onto the box, a section at a time then painted on the emulsion keeping the strokes going in one direction. I then heated it with my heat gun and as if by magic the cracks appeared. I scored two lines across the lid of the box and cut down the sides then fastened the the side sections to the box base. There you have it a hinged lid.  I decorated the box using a 99p stencil I picked up on my travels and distress inks. I think this box will be home to some of my lace and ribbons. Please note that I said SOME!
Well hope you will pop over to the TioT  challenge blog to check out the DT fantastic creation and don't forget when you enter the challenge to include a link to the Craft Barn to be in with a chance of winning their fabulous prize.
Have a good day everyone.

The Sky's the limit!

We have a very miserable start to the day here in the West Midlands, dull and rainy. Never mind that means it's a perfect day for crafting yeh!

It's time for another challenge with Try it on Tuesday and this week it's entirely up to you what you create using the theme the Sky's the limit.  I think a few of us on the DT struggled a little with this one but I'm sure our trusty followers will come up with the goods!

I've used the only stamp I could think of in my collection that would fit the bill.  Mind you if I looked long enough there's probably others (should really index and organise them, as if that's ever gonna happen!).

I'm sorry about the poor quality of the photo it was so difficult to get a decent picture of the embossing. I used Sheena's Wow Platinum sparkle embossing powder which looks silver in some light and more grey in another, hence the dodgy looking embossing. In reality it looks super. I'll try and get a better shot later if it brightens up. Anyway the stamp is one I saw Jayne Nestorenko demonstrating years ago on C&C and I love it. I think it's called  Moonshadow.
I brayered the background using the Big and Juicy Mountain Meadow pad then stamped the image using Perfect Medium and embossed.  I removed some of the colour in the moon and face by adding water and dabbing with tissue. I tore the bottom edge and added some colour from the Big & Juicy pad and some stickles for stars. I used a clear corner stamp (Circa Stamps) which I embossed and another Circa stamp for the sentiment.
Now if you'd like more inspiration why not check out the Try it on Tuesday challenge blog to see the DT creations.
Thank you so much for stopping by, hope you have a good day.
Hugs, Pat xx

Try it on Tuesday challenge and Blog Hop

Well today at Try it on Tuesday we not only have a challenge for you, which this week is to make a tag with the theme of Hearts and Flowers, but we also have a Blog Hop which is sponsored by Lovin Ink.
Here is my tag for the challenge

I used a mask and distress inks to create the backing paper which I matted onto some green centura pearl card.  I stamped the hearts with perfect medium and embossed with cosmic shimmer embossing powder.
Et Voila!

Now let's get hopping and have some fun .
The prize for our lucky winner  chosen at random is the amazing box that our super talented Michelle created for the Craft Stamper Magazine and the stamps she used. I really wish I could enter!

You should have hopped here from Yvonne's blog, if not then head back to The TioT blog to get started.
You need to click on the heart below which will take you to a page where you must look for a heart and letter.

When you've found the heart and letter hop back here for the link to the next blog which is Carole's
Have fun hopping but don't wear yourself out! Good luck.

SWALK Peek

Hello and thank you for stopping by.
I'm just back from the hairdressers so I'm all neat and tidy rather than bedraggled as I have been for the last couple of weeks.  I just haven't been able to find the time to get it done but I was determined that come what may it was gonna be done this week.

Right then as promised another sneak peek of the new SWALK stamps.

An easel card with a difference.
I printed directly onto some of the lovely Snow White centura pearl card using the SWALK 2 CD- ROM
Then created the card from a template I had made up. Coloured the stamped image with DI and cut out with a nestie label and layered onto another nestie shape which I created by drawing around die used for the first label and cutting out. I printed an insert from the CD-ROM and lined up the verse so that it would show through the aperture.
I'll be back tomorrow, so hope to see ya then!

Mondays sneak peek

As promised here is another peek at the all new SWALK stamps by Crafters Companion which launch on Create and Craft on Saturday 12th February. There is a set of 6 stamp plates with the oh so cute images and sentiments that are just a little bit different.

I used the SWALK 2 CD ROM to print the DP direct to some Snow White Centura Pearl card. I cut a round aperture in the front of the card using nesties and added stickles around the edge. I coloured the image with DI and cut it out with a circular nestie which I then layered onto another scalloped edge nestie and stuck to the inside of the card.  The sentiment is also from the stamp plate and the flowers were printed from the CD then cut out and distressed by scrunching them up then edged with stickles. The flourish was cut using my Slice machine.

Hope you have a good day and please do stop by tomorrow for another peek.

Love, Pat xx

Sneak Peek of the soon to be released SWALK stamps

A quick post from me today to share with you a card I created for the launch of Crafters Companion's latest SWALK stamp release. There is a set of six stamp plates each with a cute character and quirky sentiment but no CD ROM this time. The set launches  Saturday on Create & Craft and I'll let you now the times and more details later in the week.

I used Distress inks to colour this cute image and to edge the nestie label. I also added stickles around the nestie but unfortunately it doesn't show on the photo. The spotty paper is from the SWALK 2 CD ROM and the black card is Core'dinations. The ribbon and apples are from my stash.
I'll be sharing a card everyday this week if you'd like to pop back to check out the new designs.
Enjoy what's left of the weekend.

Romance!

I'm back again but a little bit late with my Crafters Companion Monthly challenge post.
Apologies for that but I do have a good excuse. I've been working very hard with the help of my daughter (actually she worked harder than me!) decorating the kitchen and lobby.  I loath decorating but it had to be done and I've still got another coat of paint to put on the walls tomorrow and the woodwork yuk!!!
Anyway back to the plot.  The theme for the challenge this month is Romance which seems to be a popular choice with Valentines day just around the corner. So without further ado here is my card.

I chose to  use the Crafter Companion Love CD-ROM 1 and the Love stamp set.  The DP is from the CD and I embossed the lovely hearts and sentiment with shimmering black WOW embossing powders .  I embossed the hearts panel using Coredinations card through the Cuttlebug. The black card is also Coredinations.
My fellow teamies have come up with some fabulous designs to inspire you so please pop over and check them out.  We had a great number of fantastic entries last month so lets see if we can do even better in February. Don't forget you don't have to use Crafters Companion products but if you do you'll be entered into the random draw twice for a chance of winning the £30 voucher that Sara is so generously offering
Bye for now,
Pat xx

Feel the lurve!

Our theme for the Try it on Tuesday challenge this week is Love because Valentines day is not too far away and romance is in the air.
I was lucky enough to win a couple of Penny Black stamps from Brenda last week so decided to use one of them for my card. I'm sure you'll agree it such a cute little image. The image is Love in  the Spring.

I've used Dusty Concord DI around the edges of the nestie labels and the backing paper. I used a mask with Dusty Concord and Fired Brick DI  sprayed with Pearl Glimmer Mist to create the floral paper. The ribbon and rub on sentiment is from my stash.
I'm so please to tell you that we have a new sponsor for the challenge, One Stop Card Crafts .

If you need inspiration to get you started do please pop over to the TioT challenge blog and we look forward to checking out all the fabulous entries. Don't forget to include a link to One Stop Crafts in order to be included in the random draw. Honestly we are amazed each week by the fantastic creations that our  followers create.
Thank you for stopping by.
