Alter something with wings!

This week over at Try it on Tuesday we would like you to alter something and  include wings. I think that offers quite a bit of scope and variety.
I decided to try altering a candle. I have had a go at this once before but it was quite a while ago and that  time I used an iron to transfer the image.  This time around I decided to use my heat tool and preferred this way.
Here it is

I stamped one of Sheena Douglass's stamps onto tissue paper using Momento ink and coloured the image with copics. I cut around the image, laid it onto the candle and wrapped greaseproof paper tightly around the candle to keep the image in place.  I heated the image through the greaseproof until I saw the image come through the paper.I removed the greaseproof and voila there it is.  This technique give you the same excitement that watching embossing powder change does!

We'd be so pleased if you decide to join us for the challenge this week, so if you need a little inspiration please visit the TioT challenge blog and see what the DT have created.
Have a good day.

Still organised!!

Hope you are all enjoying the weekend.
Well so far I am keeping up my New Year resolution of planning ahead and being organised with my card making. It's lasted longer than the diet ones do so that's good.
I decided to have a play yesterday with some gorgeous glitter papers that my husband treated me to last week. They are  DCWV's Glitter Stack, yum yum! Thought I'd do another DTEC (double twisted easel card) and here it is.

The previous one I made (see Tutorials) had the panels facing outwards so I decided to make this one the opposite way.  I used the Marianne creatables doily die that I bought on Friday and the image and sentiment are Penny Black coloured with copics.  I cut the flowers using the Wedding cartridge on my Slice machine.
Well better go as I've got some planning and organising to do LOL!

Relaxing Friday!

I've had a good day today hope your's has been good too.
This morning we had a ride out to our local vineyards where there is a fabulous craft shop and a lovely cafe, perfect. I bought a Marianne Die, some lovely papers and even lovelier ribbon.
When we got back I made my creation for next weeks Try it on Tuesday challenge and was very happy with the way it turned out. Then I watched the Appley Dapply show that I'd recorded followed by the live show at 3pm.
Now I'm just relaxing while surfing the web.
No HW at all today.
Suppose I'd better go and sort something out for dinner tonight. Before I go here is another Appley Dapply card

so I'll say bye for now

Appley Dapply's Nursery Rhymes Sneak Peek

Hi everyone. Hope your week is going well.
I have scheduled this post as I'm not sure I will get chance to get it done otherwise.
I have an hospital appointment for a Gastroscopy on Tuesday and as I am  a coward  I shall be opting for the sedation. So who knows what chilled out state I shall return in.  If any strange messages appear you'll know why!
So without further ado and waffling here is today card.

Papers from the CD-Rom, Image and sentiment from the stamp plate. Labels 7 (I think) for the layering and the flowers cut with Cuttllebug die, flourish cut on  my Slice. Beads from stash.
Have you been Hopping yet, if not visit the Crafters Companion News Views and Inspiration blog to get started.
Sara is on Create and Craft today at 8am & 1pm with the Ultimate Pro and 12 noon with the Love collection.

Happy crafting

Try it on Tuesday challenge and another Sneak Peek

Try it on Tuesday challenge this week is remembering Robbie Burns and you can choose what you'd like to create. We would just like you to use a poem as your inspiration. This is the poem I decided to use.

A Face

If one could have that little head of hers
Painted upon a background of pure gold,
Such as the Tuscan's early art prefers!
No shade encroaching on the matchless mould
Of those two lips, which should be opening soft
In the pure profile; not as when she laughs,
For that spoils all: but rather as if aloft
Yon hyacinth, she loves so, leaned its staff's
Burden of honey-colored buds to kiss
And capture 'twixt the lips apart for this.
Then her little neck, three fingers might surround,
How it should waver on the pale gold ground
Up to the fruit-shaped, perfect chin it lifts!
I know, Correggio loves to mass, in rifts
Of heaven, his angel faces, orb on orb
Breaking its outline, burning shades absorb:
But these are only massed there, I should think,
Waiting to see some wonder momently
Grow out, stand full, fade slow against the sky
(That's the pale ground you'd see this sweet face by),
All heaven, meanwhile, condensed into one eye
Which fears to lose the wonder, should it wink.
Robert Browning
I decided to make an ATC although they are not usually my thing but hey that's what our challenge is all about trying new things or projects out of your comfort zone.

I used a stamp that came free with Craft Stamper magazine a while ago and coloured it with Copics. The papers are some bits  left over from some I made up. The one is tissue paint and glitter on the back of acetate and the other is just paint splodges.  The other bits and pieces are from my stash.

Please take a look on the TioT blog and I'm sure you'll feel inspired to join us.

Now time for another peek of the Appley Dapply's Nursery Rhymes
which are launching on Create and Craft on Friday

A diamond top card this time using the papers from the CD-ROM and the so cute stamped image coloured with copics. I used an MS round the page punch set for the diamond top and as a panel for the sentiment (also from the stamp plate) on the front.

If you haven't already, please pop over to the Crafters Companion News Views and Inspiration blog and join in the Blog Hop for a chance to win the most fantastic prize.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Another sneak peek.

I'm back with todays sneak peek of Crafters Companion's  Appley Dapply Nursery Rhymes
which will be launching as a CD-ROM and stamp plate on Friday 21st January on Create and Craft.

  • This is a double twisted easel card (dtec for short I think) using papers frames and sentiment from the CD-ROM.  This style of card is very easy to make.
  • I used a piece of Snow White Pearl card measuring 8" x 8",  scored  and folded it at 4" to make the card base.
  • I then cut the top layer from the bottom edge to the fold 4" in creating the two panels. Score each of these panels diagonally from outer top corner to bottom centre. (Score the opposite way if you  want them to face inwards).
  • Cut 2 x 4" squares ,decorate and attach the bottom half to the card panels to the outer card panels as you would with a normal easel card.
  • Add a sentiment as a stopper.
  • Check out another example here

Try It On Tuesday - Tag for a Man

Well better late than never!
So sorry that it has taken me so long to get around to posting my Tag for this weeks challenge.
No excuses, I'll just get on with it.
Well last weeks challenge was a popular one and we had some fantastic entries.  Let's hope everyone likes this weeks challenge as much.
It's Tag week and we'd like you to create one for a Man.
Here's  mine
The tag itself is made from some embossed card which I had from Crafters Companion a while ago and the lighter paper is some I found in my bits drawer. I really can't remember what I used to make it, some kind of ink or paint but I used some Rusty Hinge DI around the edges before I put it on the tag. The embellies were cut using some Shapeability dies. I highlighted the number and added faux stitching (difficult to see on pic) around the edges of the tag using gold Pen Touch.

The DT have created some fantastic Tags and I'm sure you'll feel inspired if you pop over and check them out. I'm so looking forward to checking out the entries this week.

Thank you for stopping by and for leaving comments which I really do appreciate.

Love
Pat xx

New Beginnings

Today is the first challenge of 2011 for the Tuesday Taggers team, but we decided to to start the New Year with some changes. So the challenge is renamed as Try it on Tuesday Challenge and the blog has been revamped. Do please stop by to check it out and find out just  what we are going to be getting up to in 2011.
The theme for the  first challenge is "New Beginnings" and we would like you to include anything new on a card. Maybe new baby, new home, new job etc.
I decided to go with new day dawning.  Well I needed to try out my brayering techniques again and boy do I need some practice. I'm certainly no Barbara Gray!! Anyway I've had fun getting a bit messy and that's what our challenge is all about, trying new things and having fun.

The stamps are all Clarity, the cottage and naked tree stamped using Adirondack Earthtones Espresso and the cottage was coloured wth copics. The foliage was stamped using the Big and Juicy Mountain Meadow pad, which was also used to brayer the sky.  The hills were brayered using the Big and Juicy Waterfall pad.
So now it's over to you, we would love to see your take on this new challenge if you'd like to join in with the fun.
Thanks so much for stopping by.

Happy New Year

My first post for 2011 is the Crafters Companion Monthly challenge which  is a sketch by our super talented Jacqui with the option of something "New".  You can choose to follow the sketch, the theme or both together and remember you don't have to use Crafters Companion products but if you do you'll be entered twice into the random draw for the £30 voucher that Sara is offering. Here is my card.

I've used the gorgeous and cute Souffle for this one stamped and coloured with Copics and cut out using the lacey circles nestie (my new element). The papers are from the Souffle CD.
Please do pop over to the challenge blog to check out the fabulous cards the DT have created and hopefully be inspired to join us this month.
I'm spending a nice relaxing day today after celebrating the New Year at my sons house.  Jonathan and Liz organised the most fabulous Race Night and it was great fun with the most yummy food too.  We are now looking forward to a great 2011!

Thanks for stopping by and Happy New Year to everyone.
Love, Pat xx
