Short & sweet

Sorry everyone but my post is going to be a quick one as I am full up of cold and have a banging head.

For the challenge this week on Try it on Tuesday is to alter something using the theme of childhood book.
My project has been inspired by the book Treasure Island

I used various layers of paints to achieve the battered and beaten look. I think it was gesso, emulsion and perfect pearls.
The challenge is once again sponsored by our good friends at The Craft Barn so there is a £15 voucher up for grabs so don't forget if you enter to put a link to them in you post.
Thanks for stopping by,

Fun packed weekend!!

Hope you are all having a good weekend. I started mine off well with my best mates last night. We had a lovely meal at our local Cosmo restaurant and a great time was had by all. I've never seen so much yummy food in one place and it's buffet style so you can be a greedy as you like, and we were.
Today I'm just chillin', well this afternoon I am but we had the grandchildren over this morning so it was baking and card making with Jessica while Granddad got bossed about by Elliot.
I have a lovely day ahead of me tomorrow as I am going on another of Jayne Nestorenko's workshops and I can't wait. Lots of lovely crafting, a nice meal and most importantly great company.
Before I  go I thought I would just share a little card with you. It's one I made last month but I never got around to sharing it.
The stamp is a Penny Black and if my memory serves me correct (it doesn't most of the time) the paper is V & A.

I'll let you see what we create at the workshop on Monday so please pop back as I'm sure Jayne will come up with something gorgeous.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

What a Wonderful World

Hello there dear bloggers .I got some jobs done in the garden yesterday. Thought I'd better get stuck in before it gets colder as I'm a fair weather gardener really.  I planted some anemone bulbs and creosoted some fence panels.  The baskets in the garden are still flowering quite profusely which is wonderful. Well that leads me nicely into the Try it on Tuesday challenge.
This week anything goes and the theme is inspired by Louis Armstrong's What a Wonderful World

I decided to go with a card

I used Waterfall Big and Juicy and a blending brush to colour the blue sky and green grass. The stamps used are by Inkilicious. Just drew a border in the style of the lovely Barbara Gray and layered it up. Used an MS border punch along the bottom edge with a bit of ribbon from my stash.
Please check out the creations by the rest of the DT and I'm sure you will agree "What a Wonderful World."
Thank you for visiting today and for your kind comments.

Tag - Dig out the old

It's TAG week for the Try it on Tuesday challenge and the theme is to use a stamp that you've had for ages but never used.  Now I know we've all  got them stashed away so why not dig them out and come and join us.

I dug out this cute little chappie who I think is called Smookie and I used my copics to colour in the image, then I added a touch sparkle using stickles.  I used a nestie to cut the tag itself and I coloured and embossed it by using a cuttlebug embossing folder which I coloured with Faded Jeans DI before running through the Grand Calibre.
My fellow teamies have as always created some great tags so please do pop over to the challenge blog to check them out.

Thank you so much for visiting today and for leaving your much appreciated comments.

Monochrome

Tuesday again and time for another Try it on Tuesday challenge.
This week it's a Monochrome card that we want.
Here is mine

I chose to go black and white but you could use shades of whatever colour you choose.
A less is more card from me this week. The backing paper is from the DCWV Glitter Stack and is beautiful.  Sadly the photo doesn't show off all the lovely glitter.  I thought this cat stamp lent itself to a minimal design so I just added a bit of shading using a light grey copic pen.
As always the DT have created some fabulous examples following the theme. So if you'd like some inspiration why not pop over and check them out.
Thank you for visiting me today, I really do appreciate it. Please leave me a comment to let me know you've been and then I can come and visit you.
Hugs

A lovely day with the Grandchildren.

Well it's been another lovely day weather wise here in the West Midlands today, so we decided to pay a visit to a local attraction. I have lived in this area all of my life and yet had never visited the lovely Bantock House and Gardens which is just outside the centre of Wolverhampton. We took our Grandchildren with us and Elliot enjoyed the playground with his Granddad while Jessica and myself went around the lovely old house.  We had lunch in the courtyard of the cafe in the lovely sunshine which was really good.  So if you are ever in the area Bantock House is certainly worth a visit. It's a shame it took me so long to find out.
Now I have a little card to share with you that I made for my BIL and his wife for their Wedding Anniversary which is today.

The image is a Penny Black coloured with Whisper pens.  The patterned paper is by Wild Rose and the sentiment was created in Word and cut out using a nestie die.
I am entering this into the
Carisma Cardz challenge - Anything Goes
Art Impressions stamps - Lots of Dots

Well that's about it from me tonight.
