Pop out Box tutorial

Well I decided that I would set up a page for tutorials but unfortunately it doesn't work as I would like so change of plan. I will label the posts as tutorials and add links to the Tutorial page. It's been a while since I "messed about" on blogger and things have changed!

Well here is the Pop out Box
These measurements create a card that will fit a 5" x 7" envelope.
You can change the measurements to suit your project.
Cut a piece of card measuring 26cm x 18cm. Score across the long side at 2cm, 8cm, 14cm, 20cm. Turn card clockwise and score down the  middle (9cm) to the 20cm scoreline.

Cut away the top 2cm panel (shaded) and cut down the lines of the top sections to the middle scoreline (solid lines)

Fold the scorelines to create the box sticking the 2cm panel to the inside of the back  panel

The box will fold flat to go in the envelope

Cut 2 strips of card 8cm (6cm plus 1cm each end to attach to inside of box). Attach flowers and embellishments to these strips to decorate. Cover the panels of the box with papers and decoration of your choice.
Here is  an example

You can create these boxes to various sizes just adjust the sizes of the panels
Here are a couple more using different measurements

I love making these boxes and hope you will too.

Happy 2015!!

Well that's it Christmas is well and truly over and 2015 well underway. I would like to say we had a good Christmas and New Year celebrations but unfortunately both were blighted by ill health. We all came down with the awful cough & cold that's been doing the rounds. Then Christmas Day saw my Son in Law admitted to hospital due to dangerously high blood sugar levels, he's type 1 diabetic. Pleased to say it's  now under control. Then my poor hubby John was admitted to hospital New Years Eve and has pneumonia. Hopefully he will soon be back home once the intravenous antibiotics have done their job.

Anyway in the meantime I'm catching up on a few things inbetween hospital visits. Hence I'm here blogging which has been a rare occurance lately.

Her is a selection on Christmas cards I made.

A very good and fruitful week

Hope everyones Christmas plans are coming together nicely. I finally got around to sorting most of the presents this week after a trip into Birmingham with my daughter. We had a lovely day out even though both of us were feeling a bit under the weather. I still have a number of Christmas cards to get done but I'm hoping to get them finished this weekend.
I have had a pretty good week all in all actually. Last Saturday went to the Free Radio Live gig at the LG arena and saw Ollie Murs, Ed Sheeran and many more. Then the trip to Birmingham and a night out with my best friends last night. To round it off I am going to a Christmas concert this evening to see my daughter in law playing violin in the orchestra.
Right then enough of my hectic social life lol!
Here are a couple of cards I made last month and a canvas I decorated just for fun

This first card I made for our nephew using Clarity Hot air balloon stamp and clouds stencil

This second one I made for my B.I.L.'s 80th birthday
The clock and buttons were cut using spellbinders die and everything else came from my stash.

I painted the stencil with acrylic paint, over stamped with texture stamps and edged it with some brass embossing powder
The large flower was created using a rubber stamp and the smaller ones are from the Craftwork Cards Vogue collection. The butterfly was diecut using a spellbinders die as were the flourishes and corners.

Well that's about it from me today except to say I am feeling rather relieved now this morning as I managed to book 1D tickets for Jessica. I hate booking tickets as it is so stressful!!

Have a good weekend
